Chrisley may know best…but not when it comes to playing with Uncle Sam’s money!
“Chrisley Knows Best” stars Todd Chrisley, and his wife, Julie Chrisley, along with their former CPA Peter Tarantino, were hit with a 12-count indictment by a federal grand jury on Tuesday for tax evasion, wire fraud and the use of the Chrisley’s production company to hide their reality TV income from the IRS.
B.J. Pak, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia addressed reporters saying “I want to make note here: Just because you’re rich and on a TV show doesn’t mean that the law is not going to come get you when you commit a federal crime."
The indictment covers nine years and says the Chrisleys used false documents to secure millions of dollars in loans starting as early as 2007 and didn’t pay income taxes from 2013 to 2016, including the time they lived in Georgia.
A production company owned by Chrisley was paid the fees that the TV stations paid for the show. And that income was not declared as income in federal tax returns.
Todd Chrisley took to social media to proclaim his innocence and blamed all of this on a "shiesty" former employee who is trying to take them down in flames!
The Chrisley's are now facing up to 30 years in prison!
