Police Identify Suspect Accused Of Hitting 2 Deerfield Officers

DEERFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police have identified the suspect who allegedly hit two Deerfield police officers with a car.

Timothy M. Avery, 27, of Agawam, was arrested Saturday following the crash.

Mass State Police said that Avery was driving under the influence of narcotics, and that they found canister of pills, that he did not have a prescription for, in his car.

The officers suffered non-life threatening injuries, and were taken to a local hospital.

Avery is facing multiple charges including operating under the influence of drugs causing serious bodily injury.

The suspect is to be held pending bail payment or arraignment. His bail was set at $10,000 cash plus a $40 bail fee.

Avery is expected to be arraigned in Greenfield District Court sometime this week.
