How Legoland Discovery Center Is Reopening

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Starting Thursday, families in Massachusetts will have one more indoor activity for the winter; Legoland Discovery Center in Somerville is reopening.

According to General Manager Adrian Thompson, when kids return to hit the bricks this week, they'll be enjoying a cleaner-than-ever experience.

"We have electrostatic sprayers ... we have an hourly cleaning checklist," he said. "So we'll be cleaning all of our high-touch areas every hour."

If you're concerned about a lot of kids touching a lot of lego pieces amid COVID-19, Thompson said they have a plan for that.

"Every family that comes in will actually get their own lego bag of bricks to play with," Thompson explained. "You can take it throughout the center with you, build, design create... then you give it back to us at the end and we wash it and sanitize it ready for our next set of guests."

Plus, Thompson said the rides will be back open, and all the cool lego sculptures are still there. That includes Lego Fenway park, which have more fans in the seats than the real place has had all season.
