Boston Local Food Festival Focuses On Sustainability

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Local Food Festival was held at the Rose Kennedy Greenway on Sunday. The event was all about healthy and sustainable food.

Health-conscious attendees explored the world of food sustainability with some items like grass-fed burgers, edible insects — like cricket cookies — and locally produced almond butter.

WBZ NewsRadio’s James Rojas tried a cricket cookie while checking out the festival.

Jeff Barry owns Boston Organics, an organic food delivery service. He said there is a lot to do at the festival.

“Food that you can purchase from local food vendors, some are the farms themselves,” Barry said. “A lot of organizations here that are helping to promote local food and sustainability.”

There was a large emphasis on the farm-to-fork movement at the festival.

Organizers also encouraged the idea of having half of everything consumed in Massachusetts to be grown or produced locally.
