How Losing Helped The Celtics

Did you watch any of Team USA's disaster in the FIBA World Cup? I watched enough to see that something great was happening amid one of the biggest basketball tragedies in recent memory. I knew that the overall result was going to be pretty bad when big name players declined invitations to play, and then average name players began cutting themselves from the team! Yes, cutting themselves from the team because they didn't want to play for THIS team USA (the Olympics are a different story). From the broken concrete emerged a rose...4 of the Top 5 players for the Celtics spent the summer together playing basketball. The team was led by Kemba Walker. Jalen Brown, Jason Tatum, and Marcus Smart also played major roles for team USA. After last NBA season, togetherness would not be a word to describe the Celtics. Recently, Sports Illustrated released it's Top 100 players in the NBA. You might recognize some faces on the list...they spent the summer playing basketball together!
