Taraji P. Henson's Identity Stolen By Chicago Woman

Alicia Newby is accused of stealing the identity of several people, including actress Taraji P. Henson.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the 29-year-old pregnant mother-of-six is accused of stealing multiple people's identities and collecting thousands of dollars in merchandise that was mailed to dummy addresses.

On Sunday (July 26) during her court hearing, Alicia "quietly sobbed next to her court-appointed attorney" while being charged with a single felony count of continuing a financial crime enterprise, CT reports. She was reportedly ordered released on a $10,000 signature bail and electronic monitoring, but was forbidden from contacting victims or witnesses.

While Taraji's name was not mentioned in court, court records list the Empire actress as one of the alleged victims. A police source additionally told the newspaper that investigators were also looking into whether any other cast members of Empire may have been victims.

Alicia, who suffers from bipolar disorder, is accused of collecting more than $12,000 in fraudulent transactions. However, more than $4,000 was canceled after Taraji's manager discovered the fraud last August, CT reports.

Alicia is said to have successfully targeted Taraji's email account to conduct the scheme. "Once this was done, the defendant then raided the account for a variety of information," including phone numbers, addresses, financial accounts and telephone numbers that she could then use to purchase items online, Assistant State’s Attorney James Costello told the court.

Alicia also allegedly defrauded JP Morgan Chase, American Express and PayPal and multiple other merchants, according to court documents.

It's not known how or if Alicia knows Taraji personally. The pregnant mother-of-six is expected to return to court next week.
