CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 16-year-old Cambridge teenager has been arrested after allegedly striking a woman in the head and stealing her purse late Saturday night.

The unconcious woman was found around 10:45 p.m. by a passerby on Loughery Walkway. She was bleeding from her head.

When revived, the woman told authorities she was talking on her cell phone when she was struck in the head with a blunt object by a black man on a bicycle. The unnamed victim was then transported to a local hospital with a severe laceration over her left eye.

Police used surveillance footage of the area to identify the suspect.

A search of the suspect’s apartment revealed the bicycle seen on tape in the rear yard with the victim’s property in a nearby trash barrel. The suspect was also found to be in possession of a double-edged knife.

The teenager is facing charges including possession of a deadly weapon.

According to police, the teenager's parents are cooperating with the investigation. The woman is expected to make a recovery.
