Michele Saunders

The New 97.7 Woman of the Week - Week of April 2, 2018

Name: Michele Saunders
From: Boston, MA

Michele is a proud fifth-generation Bostonian with an incredible story. She works as a professional ghostwriter, proofreader, and copy editor. After 10 years of marriage on June 17, 2010 Michele gave birth to precious preemie twins Joseph Issachar and Iyesha Jasmine Saunders. Unfortunately due to complications after birth both twins later died.

Six years later Michele was diagnosed with lung failure. She never smoked but was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis since the age of four, and that ultimately is what made her lungs fail. Michele had heard stories of how people had to wait years to receive an organ donation, but she had already overcome so much after losing her twins and remained optimistic.

By the grace of God, Michele only had to wait 4 weeks for a new set of lungs! She underwent a double lung transplant and received her two new lungs on December 17, 2016.

New lungs, new life. Loving people and appreciating life, she is glad to be alive! Michele surely don't look like what she has been through!

In February she was diagnosed with heart failure, and kidney failure. She was told by doctors the strong anti rejection medication she was taking affected her kidneys.

Michele is an amazing woman with an incredible journey! She will be turning 46 years old on May 31st and always says "Enjoy TODAY and all that comes with it, for TODAY truly is a gift. Life is a gift, be kind to all whom you encounter for you never know what a person is walking through even now. Your kindness just might be their lifeline. Be blessed." and as Michele always says, "To God Be All The Glory!"

Favorite Artists: Prince, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson
